Gloria Vanderbilt wears many hats—heiress, actress, author, designer, the list goes on. But this Wednesday, February 26, she wears that of the artist, unveiling her newest collection of paintings at New York’s 1stdibs Gallery. The exhibit, titled The Left Hand is the Dreamer, showcases her foray into gouache, the collection a simultaneous exploration of memory, nostalgia, and the future. In rendering these concepts, Vanderbilt gives viewers an intimate glimpse into her storied past, lacing paintings with personal items including notes to close friends like Carol Matthau and Joyce Carol Oates. The Left Hand is the Dreamer marries art and heritage with ease, affirming Vanderbilt’s legacy as “a feminine version of the Renaissance Man.”
The Left Hand is the Dreamer is on display February 26-March 23 at 1stdibs Gallery, 200 Lexington Avenue, 10th Floor, New York.
